The Coronavirus crept silently into an unsuspecting world in 2019. 2020 brought about doubts and fears and pandemonium among all nations. Like the legendary fairy tale Sleeping Beauty, the world seemed to have been put into a deep sleep with doors closed, separating people from country to country, from families, from friends and from neighbours. People were not allowed to cross oceans, or cities or towns. Emotions were high, suspicion, doubt and anxiety, frustration, loneliness, to name just a few
What did you and your family do, to live through these past two years and these present days, with this Coronavirus still around? Did your family draw closer to each other or were you torn apart? Were you more loving to one another or less impatient with your children? Did you enjoy working from home in pyjamas or did you miss dressing up and going out? Each of us did our best to face this new world that we were all forced to live in, or didn’t we?
There was a positive side as well. Alongside the virus we learnt viral communication through online platforms. There were many faces linked together to form choirs online. Children were exposed to a new way of learning online. We depended so much on social media for news, the good and the bad. So much seem to happen up in the air.
Another positive was that more people turned to prayer, through fear, calling for the only source of hope, a God they’d failed to acknowledge in the good times, or a God they knew all the days of their lives. Has our faith grown stronger, or do you still live in darkness. The choice is ours, the choice is yours, my friend.
We continue to live through these uncertain days not knowing yet hoping somehow, sometime soon, this alien virus would leave, just as suddenly as it appeared, and all will be back to normal once again.
But then, can we really go back to normal? How can life be the same when so many family members and friends are no longer with us today? Can life ever be the same in the post corona days? We can only believe and have faith that from the beginning of days, mankind has weathered many storms, wars, diseases and challenges, yet have prevailed, and so we will. May you find Peace and Joy, Hope and Love through these pandemic days.
